Historical Context

The inti replaced the sol de oro at 1,000 to 1 on 1 February 1985, and this note was printed after that change; the later 50 intis note kept the design with only the green 50. Nicolas de Pierola, nicknamed 'El Califa', was president of Peru in 1879-1881 and 1895-1899.

Condition

[Est. F] Well circulated, with many creases, a vertical center fold and a horizontal fold, overall soiling and rounded corners. A faint blue ink line about 20 mm long runs above the top serial on the front, and a small cluster of brown stains sits under 'BANCO' on the back. No tears, holes or tape. Grade estimated from the scans; not professionally graded.

Legal Tender

No longer legal tender: demonetized on 31 December 1986, and sol de oro notes cannot be exchanged for current soles.
