Description

A State Bank of Vietnam 200 dong note dated 1987 (issued 30 September 1987), Pick P-100b, with sans-serif prefix letters. Dark red on a multicolor underprint. The front shows Ho Chi Minh with the national emblem; the back shows farm workers harvesting, with a tractor. Cotton paper; watermark: lotus flower. Catalog size 130 x 65 mm. Serial JB 7537394. Measured on the 1200 dpi scan: 128.5 x 64.9 mm; printed margins left 4.6, right 3.7, top 1.2, bottom 4.1 mm (design high). The close-ups show the serial, the portrait of Ho Chi Minh, the harvest scene and the date. The last photo adds a millimeter scale.

Historical Context

Ho Chi Minh (1890-1969) led Vietnam's independence movement. This note came out in the Doi Moi years after 1986, when Vietnam began opening its economy.

Condition

[Est. VG-F] Heavy wear, soft paper and soiling, with a brown stain at the left of the back. Grade estimated; not professionally graded.
